Default Introductions Guidelines

RULE NUMBER 1: Thou shalt NOT spam. Spam will be removed. Repeat offenders will be banned.

This section of the Small Business Forum is for you to introduce yourself, and your business. Yes, there is some grey area when you start talking about your business, but we can really see when it's an introduction as opposed to just spam. We want to foster conversation, not have you tell us how we can get rich quick or enlarge our body parts. If you post something like "We're the world's greatest web host, get 10000GB for only $0.02 per year" it's spam and it will be removed. If you post "Hi, I'm Sam, I run a hosting company .... " that's an introduction and you're very welcome here.

Any questions, please ask.

Just to make sure this is crystal clear. An introduction is NOT when you post your best sales pitch. Most of us are here to find answers to specific questions and to network with other small business owners, a good introduction will help you with the networking with other people part. Yes, tell us about yourself and your business, but tell it in the way you'd do it when you're talking to someone you just met or how you would tell it to a friend you haven't seen in a while. Dont' tell it to us like you're a telemarketer who's just interrupted our family supper hour!

Also.......

Signatures. If you want people to know your business, your website, your phone number, stuff like that, put it in your signature. It's in the user cp. Make it four lines or less, using regular size font or smaller. Make use of color or text art if you think you need to stand out.

A few more pointers to people posting introductions.

Don't make the subject of your thread spammy. For example, if you're Bill Gates don't make your introdution thread subject like "Microsoft Windows ONLY $99 BUY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!". You stand a good chance of getting your post removed, and being branded a spammer. At the least, your thread title will be edited to say just "introduction". Write something like "Hello from microsoft.com", instead. Then we know your intention is just to introduce yourself.

Inside the post, please do tell us about yourself, and about your business. Don't just list your current rate sheet. That will surely get your post removed or edited. Again, if you're Bill Gates, please write something like "My company is primarily in software, we've created popular programs such as Windows, which is the world's most popular desktop operating system, Excel and Word..." etc. You can tell us about your business, your products and services without sounding like a spammer. It's not that hard.

Just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate this website. This is what I expected the RichDad website to be. Very nice work.

Hello All,

I am currently studying for my CPA exam and am a partner with a computer security developement company and a business consulting company.

I just found a post from OldJack doing a google search on tax issues and immediately signed up for this forum. This is a great idea and I just like to thank everyone who contribute to this forum.

GREAT JOB!

Default katarina

Hi! A newby here!
My name is Katarina and I'm new in the business world. I've just got a kid and while on maternity leave I made the decision to get into internet marketing. Things went a little wrong concerning going back to my old job and I lost it. Because of that, funds for the business got a little too slim to do it by myself. Now I got 5 sites ready to be filled and nothing to fill them with. I don't want to spam but would anyone know of someone who would need a site built for them?

Hi guys,

I am Edward from the Philippines. I am currently working with a manufacturing firm here. I would like to learn about some small business that is not time consuming so I can manage it part time and let my girl friend take care of it.
